Crash shuts down southbound B.W. Parkway

The southbound lanes of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway have been shut down while investigators probe a crash that seriously injured at least one person, U.S. Park Police said Wednesday afternoon.

The crash occurred about 2:15 p.m. on the parkway just south of Route 197 and involved three vehicles, police said. At least one person was transported from the scene with serious injuries, and at about 3:15 p.m., traffic in the southbound lanes was being diverted at Route 197.

The northbound lanes remain open, police said. The circumstances of the crash are being investigated.
