Woman struck by vehicle near Anacostia’s Big Chair

A pedestrian was struck and injured Thursday afternoon near Anacostia’s landmark Big Chair in Southeast Washington, which shut down a major neighborhood corridor for about 45 minutes, D.C. police said.

The accident happened in the 2100 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue just after 4 p.m., said Officer Paul Metcalf, a police spokesman. Officers found a woman conscious and breathing, and she was taken to a hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

Authorities reopened the road about 4:45 p.m., but lingering delays are possible.
