Outer loop moving again near American Legion Bridge

11:15 a.m. update:

The delays have largely cleared up and traffic is moving in this area.

Update, 7:31 a.m.:

Both earlier accidents on the outer loop of the Beltway have been cleared, but delays persist as drivers approach the American Legion Bridge and at Georgetown Pike.

Update, 7:08 a.m.:

Problems appear to be mounting on the Beltway. The latest delays are due to an overturned vehicle blocking the two left lanes of the outer loop at Georgetown Pike.

Original post, 6:07 a.m.:

An early morning crash on the outer loop of the Beltway is snarling traffic in Virginia.

All lanes are blocked, bringing traffic to a crawl as vehicles approach the American Legion Bridge. Traffic is getting by slowly in the right lane only, and delays extend about three miles.

Drivers can expect delays and are urged to avoid the area, if possible.
