As expected, a sinkhole in downtown Washington snarled traffic during Wednesday morning’s rush hour.
Several streets around the site at the intersection of 14th and F streets in Northwest Washington have been blocked since Tuesday as crews work to repair the hole.
The closures at 14th Street between New York and Pennsylvania avenues NW and F Street between 13th and 15th streets NW are expected to continue at least through the rest of Wednesday and possibly into Thursday, D.C. police said.
Drivers are advised to plan an alternate route “well outside the area where streets are closed,” according to the city’s Alert DC Web site. “If you drive anywhere close to this area, you are likely to be delayed or stuck for an extended period.”
