Train derailment in Baltimore area

A freight train derailed Tuesday afternoon just outside Baltimore in the Rosedale area, according to Baltimore area fire and police officials.

The incident happened around 2 p.m., officials said. Emergency personnel were on the scene. Social media feeds from fire and police agencies said there was an explosion, smoke and fire and that several buildings collapsed in the warehouse area where the train derailed. No injuries were reported.

As of 3 p.m., the National Transportation Safety Board said it is watching the situation to figure out whether to send investigators to the scene.

The train derailed in the 7500 block of Lake Drive and exits from I-95 and I-895 to Pulaski Highway are closed.
