A sinkhole has opened up in a parking lot near the intersection of M Street and New York Avenue in Northwest D.C., said Tim Wilson, a D.C. fire department spokesman.
There is a Honda partially in the hole, but it has not completely fallen in, as Erika Gonzalez of NBC Washington shows in these photos:
No injuries have been reported, Wilson said. There are also no reports yet of any street closures, but drivers should expect that emergency vehicles responding to the sinkhole could snarl traffic around that intersection and on the surrounding streets.
Crikey! There’s a sinkhole three blocks from my house that has eaten a car.
