New Metro board member Michael Goldman sworn in

Michael Goldman of Montgomery County was sworn in as a member of Metro’s board of directors on Thursday, replacing Michael Barnes.

Goldman, a partner with the D.C. law firm Silverberg, Goldman & Bikoff, will represent Maryland. During his legal career, Goldman has represented a number of airlines and airports. He has worked in areas of transportation and international law since 1972.

Barnes joined the board in April 2011. He decided to step down after being appointed to the board of the Office of Congressional Ethics, he said in an email on Thursday afternoon. His last day was last Friday.

Earlier this year, Dana Hedgpeth reported on Mark Winston, another potential candidate to replace Barnes. Winston had ties to a firm trying to lure the FBI to a site near the Greenbelt Metro station.
