Tree falls and shuts down Spout Run Parkway ramp

Update: Authorities cleared the tree and reopened the George Washington Parkway about 5:45 p.m.

A tree fell along Spout Run Parkway Monday afternoon and forced U.S. Park Police to close the entrance ramp to southbound George Washington Memorial Parkway, officials said.

Authorities started detouring drivers at Lorcum Lane after the tree collapsed about 4:30 p.m.  No injuries were reported.
