Outer loop snarled by crash at Wilson Bridge

An accident on the outer loop of the Beltway at the Woodrow Wilson Bridge has been blocking multiple lanes and snarling traffic for several hours Friday afternoon.

As of 5:20 p.m., three lanes and one of the shoulders remained closed by the accident. With the evening commute  getting underway, the delays are only going to worsen as more drivers head into the mess.

The delays currently stretch from the Wilson Bridge back to the Springfield Interchange. There are no issues west of the interchange as of 5:20 p.m., but that could change as traffic builds.
