MARC delays expected following weekend derailment

Maryland commuters riding MARC’ Camden Line should expect delays Monday morning following a freight train derailment over the weekend.

MARC officials said the Camden Line will run on a single track past the derailment site in southwest Baltimore, where eight cars of a 118-car CSX train came off the tracks Sunday morning just south of Camden Station.

Trains are running on a full schedule Monday, but as of 6:30 a.m., trains were experiencing delays of 30 to 45 minutes, officials said.

Riders can avoid delays by using alternate lines, officials said. Camden Line tickets are honored on the Penn Line, and MARC weekly and monthly tickets are honored on the Baltimore Light Rail.

Officials don’t know how long the service disruption will last. The cause of Sunday’s derailment is under investigation.
