Gas leak closes portion of road in Germantown

Montgomery County Police said a portion of Seneca Meadows Parkway in Germantown is closed this morning because construction crews hit a gas line.

Workers are building a new Wegman’s grocery store in the area and the gas line began to leak after it was struck. Police said Washington Gas crews are on the scene working to fix the problem.

The incident happened just after 7 a.m. and authorities said part of the road would will remain closed until 9:30 a.m.

Few traffic delays were reported in the area.
