It’s late August and summer doldrums tend to kick in here in Washington. But for some commuters steeling themselves for fall, there may be welcome news.
Metro said it is opening a new, 1,400-space parking garage at Dunn Loring station on Aug. 26. The new garage will replace the current surface lot.
According to Metro’s head of parking Patrick Schmitt, “The new garage is a welcome enhancement for Dunn Loring customers, who will now benefit from weather-protected parking, improved lighting and high-definition security cameras.”
A second phase of the project will add another 700 spaces. That part is expected to be complete in late 2014.
Metro commuters often say they can’t find enough parking at Metro facilities, especially near the end of the rail lines. Parking lots and garages can fill up in the morning rush hour, making it a race to find a spot.
