Red Line snarled after mechanical issue

Red Line riders encountered heavy delays and severe crowding Friday evening after a disabled train led to single tracking.

A Red Line train heading to Glenmont had mechanical issues at Cleveland Park shortly before 5 p.m., which resulted in single tracking between Van Ness and Dupont Circle.

Single tracking was lifted about 5:30 p.m., but delays remained in both directions, causing big headaches for riders:
