Metro train doors open on wrong side

A set of train doors opened Wednesday morning on the wrong side at the Silver Spring station.

The incident happened about 8:28 a.m. as a Red Line train was headed to Grosvenor.

Will Chong tweeted a picture of the doors opening on the wrong side. Instead of opening to face the platform, the doors opened facing a chain-link fence.

Metro spokesman Dan Stessel said there were no injuries. He wrote in an e-mail that the “operator was immediately removed from service and will be subject to appropriate administrative action.”

Stessel said passengers had a six-minute delay because of the incident.
