October 17, 2013

Metro will open two hours early Sunday, at 5 a.m., for the Army Ten-Miler. Metro offers the following tips and suggestions for riders:

• Riders traveling to the race should use Pentagon Station on the Blue and Yellow lines.
Metro will operate additional trains on the Blue Line between Franconia-Springfield and Stadium-Armory between 6 a.m. and 8:40 a.m., and between 11:15 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. Please spread out along the platform and use all available cars.

• Riders connecting from the Red Line or Greenbelt Station should take note of planned service adjustments. Details can be found here.

• Metro recommends using a SmarTrip card to speed your trip. SmarTrip cards can be purchased at any Metro station entrance for $10 ($2 for the card loaded with $8 in fare value). If using a paper farecard, a $1 per-trip surcharge applies.

Metrobus service: On Sunday, Metrobus routes that normally operate to or from Pentagon Transit Center will be temporarily relocated to Pentagon City Station from the start of the service day until the Army Ten-Miler concludes around 1 p.m. Additional staff will be on hand at Pentagon City Station to assist bus customers.

The additional two hours of service is funded through an agreement with event organizers, Metro said.
