Courtesy of the Atlantic Cities blog — always a great spot for intriguing transportation stories — we bring you the tale of the Oakland tinkerer Corwin who spotted a beautiful woman on a bicycle one day and was inspired to make a pair of high heeled shoes for his own sweetheart. File this under footwear that can be both stylish and functional when riding a bicycle.

Sadly the relationship ended before the shoes were finished, Corwin reports. But should you be so inspired and should you possess a decent amount of woodworking skills — he offers his eight-step process.
