Delays on Metro’s Red and Green lines

Updated, 6:26 p.m.:

Green Line trains are no longer single-tracking between Southern Avenue and Naylor Road, but riders should expect residual delays in both directions, Metro said. Red Line riders also should expect residual delays to Glenmont due to an earlier train malfunction outside Takoma.

Original post:

Red Line riders should be ready to encounter single-tracking between Fort Totten and Takoma, according to Metro. This is due to a train with a brake problem near Takoma, which had caused delays for Red Line trains heading to Glenmont.

There are also issues for riders approaching Silver Spring, with a switch problem creating delays in both directions there a short time ago. So if you’re getting on the Red Line in the near future, be prepared for delays. Separately, a Shady Grove-bound train was offloaded due to a door problem at Gallery Place.

On the Green Line, trains were single-tracking between Southern Avenue and Naylor Road due to a disabled train at Naylor Road. The single-tracking was cleared up shortly after 6 p.m., but delays remain.
