Maybe there’s been a shift in the American psyche and rather than line up to board airplanes on this, the busiest travel day of the year, everyone is lined up outside of some big-box store waiting for the black Friday doorbusters. Who knows? But the Transportation Security Agency wants you to know they’re doing a good job at Reagan National Airport. The just tweeted this photo of what was described as the lunchtime line at one security checkpoint. (Some cynical wag is bound to say, “Be nice if they had all the lanes open every day.”)

Meanwhile, the big rush of traffic heading north for the holiday weekend is expected to get underway Wednesday afternoon as drivers apparently hoped to wait out the miserable weather that has made for busy roads. Travel data collected by Inrix, the global traffic company, shows that lots of people have been headed south and west, but the big push north seems to be coming later today.
