4:49 p.m. Update:

All of the main travel lanes have reopened on I-95 South. Only the southbound right shoulder remains blocked. However, heavy delays remain, so expect issues approaching this area to linger.

Original post:

An accident involving a tractor trailer has shut down most of southbound Interstate 95 near Fredericksburg, Va., about 38 miles south of the Capital Beltway. The accident has shut down all of the main travel lanes as well as the right shoulder, and traffic can only get by on the left shoulder, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. Backups are starting to build, but expect them to worsen the longer these lanes are closed. Avoid I-95 South heading this way if you can help it.
