Northbound I-295 re-opens in Southeast D.C.

Northbound Interstate 295 re-opened after a fatal accident late last night. The lanes were shut down as investigators reviewed the scene.

Police said they did not have further details on the accident at this time.

Northbound lanes of Interstate 295 in Southeast Washington remain closed as accident investigators were on the scene.

Police advised drivers to use other routes.

Northbound lanes of Interstate 295 in Southeast Washington were closed early Tuesday after an accident between East Capitol Street and Pennsylvania Avenue SE.

D.C. police said they had few immediate details on the accident and did not know how long the roadway would be closed. Investigators are on the scene.

The accident occurred around 11:40 p.m. Monday night, police said.
