Part of Veirs Mill Road in Wheaton shut down

Veirs Mill Road near Monterrey Drive in Wheaton was temporarily shut down today because of a trash truck that caught on fire, according to police authorities.

Montgomery County Police said it is unclear how long the roadway will be closed.

The incident occurred at 12:30 p.m., police said, and all lanes in both directions near the 11400 block of Veirs Mill Road were closed. By 1:30 p.m., police said they had opened up one lane on the west bound side of Veirs Mill Road.

No injuries were reported.
