Fatal crash in Glen Burnie

Veterans Highway, a major roadway in Anne Arundel County, reopened about 1 p.m. Wednesday after an earlier double-fatal accident in Glen Burnie.

About 9 a.m., a BMW was traveling southbound on Veterans Highway when the driver apparently lost control and “entered the path of a northbound car,” according to Lt. T.J. Smith, an Anne Arundel County police spokesman.

Both of the people in the BMW were pronounced dead at the scene, he said. The person in the other car had minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital, he said.

Police said it appeared that speed was a factor in the accident.

The highway was closed for several hours between Crain Highway and Old Mill Road.

The names of those who died were not immediately released pending the notification of relatives, police said.
