Part of New York Avenue in D.C. closed

A downtown stretch of 13th Street NW was closed Friday morning after a pedestrian was struck, D.C. Police said. The road is closed between New York Avenue and I Street. Police could not say when it would reopen.

Police said the pedestrian was struck by truck in the 800 block of 13th Street around 5 a.m. He was taken to an area hospital, but his condition was not immediately known.

Earlier Friday, a University of Maryland student was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident in College Park.
