Some inner loop lanes of Beltway in Prince George’s County reopen

Updated at 6:52 a.m.

Three of the four lanes on the Inner Loop of the Beltway in Forestville have reopened after an earlier accident that involved multiple vehicles.

Original posting at 6:24 a.m.

Police said all of the inner loop lanes of the Capital Beltway in the Forestville area are closed Tuesday morning because of an accident involving multiple vehicles.

The Beltway is closed near Ritchie Marlboro Road.

The incident occurred around 5:45 a.m., authorities said, and involves a tractor trailer and four cars. It is unclear how long the roadway will be closed.

Authorities said the immediate cause of the accident was not known but warned drivers to allow extra time and to slow down while traveling, given the fresh snowfall and ice conditions on some roadways.
