Drivers have plenty to gripe about this winter

So, you say this wicked winter has sapped the life out of you? It’s also beaten the stuffing out of your car.

Cold weather causes dead batteries. It causes dashboard-warning-light low tire pressure. And it conspires to make ice that creates the potholes that have been epidemic this season. AAA, which responds to cries for help from many of the region’s drivers, says that in February it responded to 12,045 people with tire problems and 22,114 who had dead batteries in the D.C. region.

“This wild winter weather has created pothole landmines on area roadways, shaking up motorists and creating serious safety hazards,” said Jim Lardear, Director of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic.
