Police said the accidents that caused two lanes to be blocked on Interstate 495 north near the American Legion Bridge have cleared.

Original post at 6:01 a.m.

Police advised drivers to avoid the area of Interstate 495 north near the American Legion Bridge early Thursday morning because of two separate accidents.

One of the incidents involves a tractor trailer and an overturned vehicle. Maryland State Police said the tractor trailer may have been rear-ended by a vehicle. When that vehicle was left in the road, police said it appears other cars hit it.

The accidents are blocking the two left lanes of the roadway. It was not immediately clear how long the delays, which are nearly three miles in that area, would last.
