Signal problem causing Blue, Orange Line delays

May 1, 2014

Update: 6:25 p.m.

Metro officials said Blue and Orange trains traveling in the direction of Vienna and Franconia-Springfield are being held for roughly seven minutes as they check with the operations center before passing through a red signal light at McPherson Square. It is not clear whether this is the same signal that caused problems with the Thursday morning commute. Officials expect the problem to be resolved later this evening.

Earlier post:

Not the best of days for Blue and Orange line commuters who started the first day of May with delays in the direction of Vienna and Franconia-Springfield stations because of a signal problem at the McPherson Square, and appear to be ending the day with word of more delays — due to yes, a signal problem outside McPherson Square.

No word on whether it’s the same signal that caused problems during the morning commute, but we’ve got a call in to Metro officials to find out.
