Heavy rains in parts of the region and a major accident slowed down evening commutes for many travelers in the District, Maryland, and Virginia.
In Washington, two northbound lanes of D.C. 295 are open again now after closing due to a four-vehicle collision before Martin Luther King Avenue that happened around 6:18 p.m. As of about 6:40, no injuries had been reported, Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Hugh Carew said.
In Virginia, all eastbound lanes of Route 7 in Leesburg remain closed between West Market Street and King Street due to major flooding.
