Ride the Silver Line for free (Dr. Gridlock excluded)

Because we know you just can’t get enough shameless Silver Line promotion, we offer this tidbit from the folks at Metro, which landed in our inbox Wednesday afternoon. (Thank goodness Microsoft fixed that little e-mail problem!)

“Be among the first to ride the Silver Line”

Yes, Metro is offering 10 lucky folks chosen at random from among those who subscribe to the weekly e-newsletter the “Silver Bulletin” the chance to be the first to ride the Silver Line. And get this: for that first day, you’ll ride FREE!

And that’s not all — you’ll get preferred seating at the opening event July 26, a ride on the first train (no doubt crowded between many VIPs) and an unlimited Metrorail one-day pass for travel to the ceremony. No word on whether you’ll get a bag of Silver Line goodies or the “SV” wall clock featured in the commercials touting the new rail line.

The catch? You’ll have to sign up for the newsletter, which you can do here.
