Capital Beltway reopens after single-vehicle crash, traffic still snarled

Maryland State Police reopened a section of the inner loop of the Capital Beltway in New Carrollton after a single-vehicle crash on a ramp while traffic delays continued to stretch along the highway Wednesday morning.

Authorities said a Nissan Rouge lost control on a 495 southbound ramp to Annapolis Road at 9:35 a.m. The driver was taken to an area hospital, police said.

The accident closed a lane on the Beltway. State police reopened it at 10:20 a.m., but traffic delays near the crash are expected to continue.
