Update: Suitland Parkway reopens after five-car accident

A U.S. Park Police spokeswoman said Suitland Parkway is now open.

D.C. police said one right lane is now open on the westbound side of the parkway.

Authorities shut down Suitland Parkway at Naylor Road SE on Wednesday morning because of a five-car accident.

Sgt. Lelani Woods, a U.S. Park Police spokeswoman, said three people were transported to the hospital after a 7:39 a.m. crash on the westbound side of the highway. Woods said their injuries are not life threatening.

Cranes are en route to remove debris from Suitland Parkway, and traffic is being diverted.
