U.S. Park Police temporarily close eastern end of Arlington Memorial Bridge

U.S. Park Police closed the eastern end of Arlington Memorial Bridge on Friday morning for over an hour because of a “serious incident.” Police did not immediately elaborate.

Police said two of the bridge’s ramps — to Rock Creek Parkway and to Ohio Drive SW — were closed. The intersection of Independence Avenue SW and 23rd Street SW was also closed.

By 6:40 a.m., police announced that the bridge had been reopened.
