It’s nice that 42-year-old retired quarterback Brett Favre would listen if someone called, but that someone isn’t going to be the Chicago Bears.
You may remember this from Monday, when Lovie Smith indicated after initial reports surfaced. ESPN reiterated the lack of interest today just in case anybody, you know, went crazy with those initial reports that came from ESPN. (In other news, ESPN has caught and devoured its own tail.)
On Monday, Smith said he was happy or at least willing to go forward with quarterbacks Caleb Hanie, Josh McCown and Nathan Enderle. He couldn’t have been clearer.
“That's our group. We're going to make improvements with our group. We're not looking on the outside,” Smith said. “We won't have a quarterback tryout or anything like that.”
So, as much fun as a Christmas Day game between Favre’s Bears and the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau Field would have been, it’s just not in the cards.
