Dirk Nowitzki’s German hometown throws a great parade for NBA Finals MVP

Dirk Nowitzki went home Tuesday to Germany, where he was greeted as a really big deal after leading the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA title.

He was greeted at the airport by “MVP” chants and beers (duh) and addressed a throng estimated at about 15,000 from a Residentzplatz balcony. Wisely, the Germans appear to have prevented Nowitzki from singing “We Are the Champions.” Good move.

Looks like it’s good to be Dirk. The only troubling thing? Nowitzki’s wardrobe was criticized by Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. That hurts.
