Eli Manning was sent home from practice today by New York Giants Coach Tom Coughlin because he has come down with what Coughlin describes as “a stomach bug.”

“Hopefully, it’s a 24-hour deal,” Coughlin said, “and he’ll be better tomorrow.”

David Carr filled in for Manning and left no doubt that the move was temporary. “He’s playing,” Carr said. “Come on.”

The Giants will play the 49ers in the NFC Championship game at 6:30 p.m. EST Sunday in San Francisco.

“He’ll be ready,” defensive end Justin Tuck said. “I’m not worried.”

Only running back Ahmad Bradshaw did not practice; it is his routine to rest his injured foot on Wednesdays.
