Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants badly to fight Manny Pacquiao. With his jail sentence pushed back to June, he’d be free to keep the original date for their bout and he let Pacquiao know it with “them’s fightin’ words” tweets.
Mayweather is available for a May 5 fight at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas because a judge last week postponed the 87-day sentence he is to serve on a domestic violence charge. Pacquiao said last summer he’d fight Mayweather in 2012 and this week he repeated that.
“I’ve said this over and over before and I’m saying this again: I want Floyd Mayweather Jr. to be my next opponent,” Pacquiao said in an interview with PhilBoxing.com in the Philippines. “I haven't changed my choice despite recent developments.”
It might be in Pacquiao’s best interests to sidestep Mayweather for a while. Judging by a tweet after the BCS title game between Alabama and LSU on Monday night, he’s on a roll.
