Quarterback Kevin Kolb remained on the Arizona Cardinals’ roster after the 4 p.m. deadline by which the team had to release him or pay him a $7 million option bonus.
Allowing the deadline to pass and paying the bonus effectively takes Arizona out of the running for Peyton Manning, according to Kent Somers of AZCentral.com.
Update 5:21 p.m.: Cardinals Coach Ken Whisenhunt confirmed that Arizona will not go after Manning.
That leaves San Francisco, Denver and Tennessee in the Manning Sweepstakes. He worked out today for Broncos officials in Durham, N.C., and reportedly worked out earlier this week for 49ers officials. He is expected to work out at some point for the Titans.
