Madonna will perform at halftime of Super Bowl XLVI

(SRDJAN ILIC / AP)
Madonna will indeed supply halftime entertainment for Super Bowl XLVI, as earlier reports had indicated.

They have told her the gig is in Indianapolis. In February, right?

Last year’s show featured Black Eyed Peas with Slash and Usher; the year before, the surviving half of The Who entertained.

Others who’ve played the house — and the number of entertainers capable of playing an arena state is dwindling — include Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Prince, U2, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones (even if Keith Richard was never really sure he was there, we were).

Madonna (with Cirque du Soleil), eh? She’d be an awesome choice if this were, say 1992. What’s your take on this choice? And who would you like to see at halftime?
