This is either a great move or a career jinx.
Either way, at least the money has to be good.
As reported last month, Michael Strahan was officially named Regis Philbin’s replacement as the man next to Kelly Ripa on “Live” today.
“You know how they say it's a dream come true?” Strahan asked after Ripa’s announcement. “I truly can't say that because I didn't even know I could dream this.”
The former New York Giants defensive end enveloped his new partner in a bear hug and Ripa cracked, “It’s so nice to have a co-host who can literally sweep you off your feet.”
Strahan is navigating fairly treacherous waters, as former athletes who’ve hosted non-sports TV shows can attest. Who can forget Magic Johnson’s talk show? Or John McEnroe’s? Or the unsuccessful foray of his former Giants teammate, Tiki Barber, in early-morning TV? Actually, we all can, which is why YouTube was invented.
(Actually, the worst of “McEnroe” is oddly entertaining.)
