Because NBC will carry President Barack Obama’s speech Thursday night, four of its other channels will carry the pregame show before the NFL season opener between the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers.
VERSUS, USA, Syfy and G4 — as well as the NFL Network — will carry the 90-pregame show known as “NFL Kickoff 2011 Presented by EA Sports,” a glorious collision of musical entertainment and hard-nosed football analysis.
Kickoff is at 8:30 EDT and the White House has promised that Obama’s speech before Congress will end by then. (Otherwise, he won’t have time to make his Kickoff Nachos. Not really. That’s a joke.)
Musical performers are expected to include Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum and Maroon 5.
