NFL free agency: Live coverage of signings, trades, cap cuts and all player moves

Updated at 12:22

The wildest off-the-field day in the history of the NFL?

It just might be, with teams now freed to begin making moves. Some of them can’t be finalized until later in the week — like the Baltimore Ravens’ pending cuts. Others, like trades for rookie and undrafted free-agent signings, are going to be flying fast and furiously today. As if that weren’t crazy enough, teams can begin negotiating with free agents at 10 a.m., but can’t officially sign them until Friday.

Some big-name quarterbacks may be moving quickly in trades, names like Kevin Kolb of the Philadelphia Eagles and Kyle Orton of the Denver Broncos. And then there’s the continuing soap opera involving Donovan McNabb of the Redskins and where he’ll end up.

Most inspirational pickup of the day? It’s likely to involve Mark Herzlich, an undrafted free-agent linebacker out of Boston College. A cancer survivor, he drew a lot of interest, especially from the Ravens, in addition to the Eagles and Giants. Herzlich, at 10:30, tweeted that he has picked the Giants.

And, of course, there’s the burning question: Where will Nnamdi Asomugha land?

Keep up with the wheeling and dealing on Twitter or here. And keep checking The Early Lead for more detailed posts.
