Randy Moss, who managed to play for three teams during his last season in the NFL, would like to return to football.
Saying “I just wanna go to a team and play some football,” he made the announcement to “true Moss fans” on his 35th birthday on his Ustream.tv channel this morning.
“The real Moss is on his way back to the NFL,” he said. “I didn't want to make no splash, that's why I left it on Moss TV.”
Moss, who has cut his trademark locks, took questions from fans and said he does not regret retiring after playing for the New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings and Tennessee Titans in 2010. He said he needed a season away from the game to recharge. Now, he told a group that swelled to over 200 as news of the video spread, he has refocused.
“I had to really get out of the fast lane and really get a grasp on what was going on in my real life. I'm okay. I'm okay. I'm happy to be in the position I'm in. I've been playing football since I was 6 years old. I don't think y'all really realize that. The day I retired took a lot to call it quits, took a lot of guts.”
Family issues forced Moss to retire, he said, but he has been cleared to make a comeback. “Faith, family, and football, that's my M.O., bro,” Moss said. “Your boy be back for the upcoming season.”
That was news to Moss’s agent, who called late in the webcast. Moss just laughed and kept talking to fans.
Now, though, the serious work begins. There were rumors and whispers about a return to the NFL last season, but nothing came of it. Now, if Moss is serious, what team is likely to sign him? Will any team or will he find he’s out in the cold, like Terrell Owens?
