New York Rangers right wing Ryan Callahan broke his leg blocking a slap shot by Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Charalate on Monday night, a significant injury that makes the Rangers a far less intimidating postseason opponent (especially for the Capitals).
Rangers Coach John Totorella confirmed the injury, saying that Callahan would not need surgery. “He’s out indefinitely,” Totorella said. “It’s long-term.”
Callahan has 23 goals and 25 assists in 60 games this season; he leads the team with 10 power-play goals and five game-winners.
