The New York Jets’ big trade for quarterback Tim Tebow has hit a snag.
According to an ESPN report, the trade could be nullified because Tebow’s contract contains “$5 million worth of recapture language,” money that the Denver Broncos want the Jets to pay. The teams, Adam Schefter reports, agreed to the trade before Denver asked that the Jets reimburse the Broncos for a portion of bonuses and salary that had already been paid to Tebow. The complication has snarled the transaction, although Schefter says a league source believes it will go through.
Earlier today, the Jets sent fourth- and sixth-round picks to Denver for Tebow and a seventh-round pick.
Should the trade collapse, Schefter reports, the St. Louis Rams, who had shown interest in Tebow, could jump back into Tebow talks.
