Rick Neuheisel is out at UCLA, but Diddy’s son is still in

Rick Neuheisel is out as the coach at UCLA, but one prized recruit still intends to play for the Bruins.

Justin Combs — son of Sean Combs (Puffy, Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Diddy, Diddy Dirty Money) — is a promising, 5-foot-9, 175-pound cornerback at Iona Prep in New Rochelle, N.Y. No matter who the coach will be, he’s heading to the West Coast. It’s a love thing.

“I have faith in the program that everything will be okay,” Combs told Scout.com. “My love for UCLA is so strong, I trust and know that everything will work out.”

Combs said his father had nothing to do with his choice or with getting accepted.

“Most people think that he being my father, he helped get me the offers, but that's not true at all,” he said. (Although it should be noted that his dad has made hundreds of millions as a hip-hop and clothing mogul.) “I went out the whole summer, I went to all the 7on7s, all the college camps and I competed my butt off. I made the most of the opportunity. I did this myself. No one did this but me.”

Combs said his parents approve.

“I spoke to my parents and they just told me since I have strong love, to commit to UCLA,” said Combs. “My dad is really happy for me and told me to just work hard and have faith and everything will work out for me, and it did.”
