In case you missed it with all the news swirling around Major League Baseball’s trade deadline and that other sport that is now back in action, the Seattle Mariners entered Wednesday night’s game in New York riding a ignominious 17-game losing streak.

The streak, which began 21 days before last night’s first pitch, was the longest in team history.

Well, Wednesday night against the Yankees, 17 proved to be the magic number for the Mariners who belted 17 hits in a 9-2 rout in the Bronx to finally put an end to the misery plaguing Seattle fans across the country — adorable puppies included.

With Leather chronicled the streak through the eyes of sad dogs, because let’s be real: a 17-game losing streak is a horrible thing to endure, but looking at photos of frowning puppies is far, far worse.
