Shooting at U.S. women’s soccer team's hotel believed to be gang-related
Members of the U.S. women’s soccer team were unhurt after a man was shot to death in their hotel in Vancouver.
The man, identified as gangster Sandip Duhre, was shot multiple times in Bar One restaurant in the Sheraton Wall Centre’s north tower at about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Vancouver Sun.
“These are incidents that put the public — the innocent public — at complete risk for their lives,” Constable Lindsey Houghton said. “This is a complete disregard for public safety, and I think we, along with everyone else, find this completely unacceptable.”
Neil Buethe, spokesman for the U.S. Soccer Federation, said that none of the members of the team, which plays the Dominican Republic on Friday in the Olympic qualifying tournament, had seen the shooting and all players were fine. Hope Solo tweeted about it:
Saved by our instant yoga session. Was about to walk to starbucks when all hell broke loose in the lobby of our hotel! Life is precious...
