Steve Sabol to undergo treatment for brain tumor

Steve Sabol, the president of NFL Films, will undergo treatment for a brain tumor, a spokesperson for NFL Films said in a statement Friday.

Sabol, 68, was hospitalized after suffering a seizure nearly two weeks ago in Kansas City. He is expected to have radiation and chemotherapy treatments for a “primary tumor that is on the left side of his brain,” according to the statement.

"[Steve] will begin treatments soon. [He] is in good spirits and is deeply appreciative of everyone’s good wishes.”

Sabol’s father, Ed, founded NFL Films and last month was chosen for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this summer.

After spending most of her career in traditional print sports journalism, Cindy began blogging and tweeting, first as NFL/Redskins editor, and, since August 2010, at The Early Lead. She also is the social media editor for Sports.
