Sabine Lisicki is the first player through to the semifinals at Wimbledon, beating Marion Bartoli 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 6-1 on Centre Court at Wimbledon.

Lisicki, an unseeded 19-year-old from Germany who is being called the next Steffi Graf after knocking Caroline Wozniacki out of the tournament Monday, battled back from a serious ankle injury that sidelined her for most of 2010. Lisicki will play Maria Sharapova in a semifinal Thursday.

“It’s still unbelievable,” said Lisicki, who lives and trains in Florida. “I cannot explain how I felt at the moment. It was just such a tough road back and it’s so wonderful to be standing on Centre Court at Wimbledon, which I love so much. It’s just ... I’m so happy.”

Bartoli, the ninth seed from France, sent Serena Williams packing Monday.
