Dallas Mavericks Coach Rick Carlisle has suspended veteran guard Delonte West for conduct detrimental to the team.

West played in Monday’s 123-104 preseason win against Houston, but after the game, Carlisle announced the decision but did not reveal what West did to warrant the suspension. Citing sources, ESPNDallas.com reports at least part of the cause was an outburst from West in the post-game locker room.

The Dallas Morning News reports the suspension is expected to be brief.

West, who takes medication for bipolar disorder, was suspended for 10 games by the NBA after his 2009 arrest for driving a three-wheel motorcycle with multiple weapons on board. The 29-year-old Washington, D.C. native was also sentenced to eight months of house arrest for the incident.

Last April, West was fined $25,000 for giving Jazz forward Gordon Hayward a wet willy during a game.

West averaged 9.6 points and 3.2 assists in 44 games with the Mavericks in 2011-12.
